Marvin Ape has a pretty tough life but then being half man, half monkey clearly isn't the easiest thing to carry off.
He gets up at 7am and we follow him as he undergoes a series of trials and tribulations on his way to work.
Wilhelm's computer generated animation hits the spot for the most part as he makes a more serious point about the nature of humanity in between the laughs. What makes us different from animals and whether it is easy to be pushed into acting like one if we are treated like one.
Marvin is a sympathetic hero, trying to do his best in the face of adversity, although a couple of minutes could have been shaved off this film at no great loss to produced a tauter result.
That said, the old lady at Marvin's bus stop is a superbly created - and rendered character... let's hope she gets a spin off.
